Mercury in Pisces, in a bathtub and in a nutshell. x

In a chart, the most important things are the planets.

We can imagine them characters.

The signs could be symbolised by the kind of clothing they are wearing, as a way to express their current mindset.

If you have Mercury in Pisces, you can imagine a messenger: a postman, an interpreter, a translator, a journalist etc.  wearing a wet suit.

You can easily understand that talking will be a little bit more difficult with a scuba in the mouth. The messages-thoughts-information Mercury wants to convey will have to find their way through Water. Sensitivity, emotions, empathy, desire for closeness are a challenge to clarity at times!

“No I’m not nasty, I’m just telling you things as they are!” would Mercury in Aries say. Mercury in Pisces doesn’t want to hurt feelings, and may choose not to say, and at times not to hear too well either. It may write songs about all that jazz, or dream and be at a loss to interpret what the message is about.

Mercury in Pisces may also become very talented at handling precisely the kind of problems it suggests. That’s a general rule for all difficult placements: we may or may not have learned the lessons. When we read charts, we shouldn’t tell older people that they have the problems they had when they were young. Asking them to share their wisdom would be more on point.

Mercury is not the author of the messages it carries. Mercury talks to you on behalf of other planets. If the Sun is in Aquarius and wants to talk about ideas, Mercury in Pisces is likely to struggle because of emotions and feelings… Or to wrap them up in a deeply empathetic style. The feelings then will help convey the ideas.

Conversely, if you have the Sun in Pisces, the messages will more often be of a feeling nature. If Mercury is in Aquarius, and has been entrusted with the task of telling you that their Lord the Sun loves you, it may find a surprisingly unique way to get the message across.
