Don't push the astro colours back into the tubes!

You mix blue and yellow and you get green.
Helen Leaf Black's palette
Green is not a shade of blue, not a shade of yellow, it's another colour.

A painter or anyone who loves colours is able to look at a certain shade of green, and see how bluish it is, or how akin this green is to the yellow spectrum.

However at basic level, green is not blue, and green is not yellow.

In similar fashion, we mix Sun and Moon signs, and of course the Ascendant... and all our placements. The result of this mixing is our personality, and it's similar to the painter palette. It's messy. In some place we can see original colours, in other places they blend in various ways.

The descriptions of the signs as character traits are what the painter gets when squeezing the tube.

The painting is what we are longing for, the reason why we keep mixing colours.

And to make things more exciting (or depressing according to the mood) with us, the palette and the canvas are only one thing.

Lists of character traits are useful as we need to understand the material, but identifying too much with our sign placements as described in textbooks is like trying to push the paints back into the tubes. It's not what we want...
