Saturn: there is a summit to any mountain.

Before anything else: it is not possible to find all the right words to explain a symbol perfectly.

All the following examples aim not at giving a well ordered, logical, consistent and exhaustive description of the meaning of Saturn but to help understand the symbol "in spirit".


Only in spirit can spiritual truths be grasped. Any purely rational attempt is doomed to fail at the door of the great mystery...








Saturn, like all energies symbolized by planets in astrology, has many means of expression. Sometimes Saturn means structure. In the body, structure is the skeleton, the bones, the joints. In the mind, Saturn means discipline, control, self mastery. It also means sense of responsibility and duty. In excess, Saturn will mean rigidity, frustration, dryness of heart...



Saturn also means boundaries.





In the body, the great boundary is our skin. In the mind, having healthy boundaries means being able to say "no". A person with a strong Saturn usually knows how to protect their private space. In excess or with tense aspects, Saturn will mean selfishness, a tendency to retreat into an ivory tower or a even a monastic cell, especially if combined with Pisces, Neptune or the 12th house. Unless the limitations are imposed on us through society's laws, in which case the cell might be a prison's.




The general idea is a shrinking, a contraction, a limitation, a concentration of the vital forces... Let's not forget that it is under great pressure that diamonds are formed...




Saturn also means an ambition to reach the summit. Frequently, the summit aimed at will be the summit of the social ladder. Power and social status are sought with a strong Saturn. However, other summits are available to Saturnian drive. The hermit sacrificing everything to reach spiritual elevation expresses the Saturnian energy. My present ambition , to explain with clarity the infinity of possible meanings of a symbol, is Saturnian energy in touch with Jupiter and Mercury.




Jupiter symbolizes, among other things the quest for meaning. Mercury expresses, among other things, the talent to explain. With Saturn entering into play, I chose a most difficult subject, if not the most difficult of all!



Saturn symbolises weight.



Connected with water signs or planets, or houses, Saturn adds painful weight to our feeling nature. Water means, feelings. With Saturn, we might well swim in the lake of feelings with weights, chains and balls fastened to our ankles and wrists. A few keywords could be: difficulties with connecting emotionally, grief, heavy heart, worries, regrets...



Saturn calls for alchemy. Saturn is lead waiting to be turned into gold through long and patient efforts. Saturn is not eternal doom. Saturn is promise as well. We need patience. Saturn, in Greek "Chronos" means time...




There is a summit to any mountain...

The karmic indicators in the birth chart

1 South Node and North Node. The Moon Nodes are always exactly opposite in the chart. The South Node (also called Ketu) represents the energy coming from our past lives, or from our family/ancestry/genetic inheritance..  It is an energy we are familiar with and needs to be balanced by the opposite energy of the North Node. The wounded healer

Chiron, in mythology, is the wounded healer. Mythology pushes things to the extreme, so the fact that the wound can't be cured in the myth should not scare us. Myths are stories. When we are wounded, especially psychologically, we learn a lot; pain is has always been a  great motivation to try to understand what's going on.  The more we try to understand the more we know, and before we are able to sort out our own problems, we become able to understand and help those who have  similar problems, but not as deeply as ourselves...  This Buddha feels like Chiron don't you think? The psychotherapist or healer may have great difficulties in their personal life. If they have a healthy attitude, they won't hold others responsible, they won't play victim or use all kinds of unhealthy coping mechanism which would make them toxic...  That's a risk on the healing path.
